Cheap & Delicious Breakfast in Suzhou
Before leaving Suzhou, we had an amazing local breakfast just near our hotel at 忆笼香小笼包·抽屉馄饨 (Yi Long Xiang Xiaolongbao & Drawer Wontons).
📍 Address: 姑苏区人民路1076号 (No. 1076 Renmin Road, Gusu District)
🍴 Must-try: their xiaolongbao and wontons — cheap, filling, and full of flavor.
This little shop was the perfect way to end our stay in Suzhou.
High-Speed Rail to Shanghai
From there, we took our luggage and walked to Leqiao Station, then headed to Suzhou Station to catch the high-speed rail to Shanghai. The journey took only 30 minutes — fast, smooth, and convenient.
Check-In: Ji Hotel (Shanghai Tiantonglu)
Once in Shanghai, we checked into Ji Hotel (Shanghai Tiantonglu). This was our second stay here because of its unbeatable convenience: the hotel sits directly above the MRT station, making it incredibly easy to travel around the city.
Lunch Time: Local Comfort Food
For lunch, we went to a nearby street and tried:
阿香嫂 Pork Rice (A Xiang Sao) — hearty and satisfying.
Qiaoshanshan Noodle House (乔山山面馆) — Shan had noodles here while I stuck with pork rice.
Both were local, simple, and delicious.

North Bund (北外滩)
In the afternoon, we visited the North Bund. Compared to the famous Bund, it was quiet, spacious, and relaxing. The view across the river was just as spectacular, but without the overwhelming crowds.
Ferry Ride to Oriental Pearl Tower
From North Bund, we walked slowly to Gongping Road Ferry Terminal (公平渡口) and took a short ferry across the Huangpu River. It dropped us near the Oriental Pearl Tower, one of Shanghai’s most iconic landmarks.
Sunset Corridor at Pudong Art Museum
Next, we discovered a hidden gem: the Sunset Corridor (日落廊桥) just outside the Pudong Art Museum. From here, we enjoyed one of the best skyline views of The Bund, bathed in golden evening light.
This spot felt magical — less crowded than The Bund but equally breathtaking.
Night Walk at Lujiazui (陆家嘴)
We ended our day in Lujiazui, exploring the dazzling skyscrapers at night. Standing beneath the Three Pieces (三件套)— the Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao, and the Bottle Opener — while the lights lit up the sky. It was even a full moon.
Day 5 Wrap-Up
From local breakfast in Suzhou to Shanghai’s futuristic skyline, Day 5 was a day of contrasts: peaceful riverside walks at North Bund, hidden gems at Sunset Corridor, and the electric energy of Lujiazui at night.
