Why Visit the Sunset Corridor & Pudong Art Museum?

Along the Pudong riverside sits one of Shanghai’s most stunning cultural landmarks — the Pudong Art Museum (浦东美术馆). Right outside the museum is the Sunset Corridor (日落廊桥), a riverside walkway and viewing deck that’s quickly become a local favorite for watching sunsets over the Huangpu River with the Bund skyline in the background.

We loved it here because it’s both cultural and scenic — art exhibitions inside, and one of the best free photo spots outside.

Highlights

  • 🎨 Pudong Art Museum (PAM):

    • Modern, minimalist building designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel.

    • Regularly hosts international exhibitions featuring contemporary and classic art.

    • Great spot to enjoy art in a light-filled, riverside space.

  • 🌅 Sunset Corridor (日落廊桥):

    • A long viewing platform along the riverside promenade.

    • Best time to visit is late afternoon into sunset — the Bund skyline glows in golden light.

    • At night, you’ll see the full neon-lit skyline of Lujiazui and the Bund.

Tips from Our Visit

  • Best Photo Time: 5pm–7pm for golden hour; stay past sunset to catch the skyline lighting up.

  • Combine with Lujiazui: Just a short walk from the Three Pieces (三件套) towers.

  • Bring Snacks/Drinks: Perfect spot to sit down and enjoy the river breeze after the museum.

  • Crowds: Expect locals and couples in the evening — arrive early for a front-row view.

Nearby Attractions

  • Lujiazui (陆家嘴): The Bottle Opener, Jin Mao, and Shanghai Tower trio.

  • The Bund (外滩): Directly across the river — best view from Sunset Corridor.

  • Super Brand Mall (正大广场): Huge mall nearby for food and shopping.
