Why Visit Lujiazui?

Lujiazui (陆家嘴) is Shanghai’s modern financial district, home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. It’s where the skyline you always see in postcards and movies comes to life. Standing here felt surreal — like being in the heart of a futuristic city.

We took photos right under the “三件套” (Three Pieces), a nickname locals use for the trio of iconic skyscrapers.

Fun Fact: The “Three Pieces” (三件套)

The three towers in Lujiazui are affectionately called the “Three Pieces” because they look like a matching set of items:

  • 🏢 Shanghai World Financial Center (上海环球金融中心) — Nicknamed the “Bottle Opener” because of its rectangular opening at the top.

  • 🏢 Jin Mao Tower (金茂大厦) — Inspired by traditional pagodas, with tiered layers rising like steps.

  • 🏢 Shanghai Tower (上海中心大厦) — The tallest building in China, with a spiraling “twist” design.

Together, they form the 三件套 — a playful name that means “three-piece set,” like a suit or outfit. Locals love calling them this because they complement each other and dominate the skyline as a trio.
