Morning: Shanghai Postal Museum & The Bund
The weather wasn’t kind — gale warning, 8–9 degree winds — but we set out anyway. Our first stop was the Shanghai Postal Museum (上海邮政博物馆), an underrated spot with old-world charm and fascinating exhibits.
From there, we walked across Waibaidu Bridge (外白渡桥), admired the Shanghai Heroes Memorial Statue, and braved the icy wind along The Bund, snapping a few shots near Jiujiang Road (九江路) before escaping to warmth.
Afternoon: Nanjing Pedestrian Road
The weather pushed us indoors, so we went shopping on Nanjing Pedestrian Road (南京路步行街). In order, we stopped by:
Qingzhi Hand Cream (青稚护手霜) — a local skincare brand.
Toptoy (潮玩店) — collectibles and toys everywhere.
Popmart (泡泡玛特) — the famous blind box store.
H&M — had to buy a hat because the wind was unbearable!
A little drama happened here — Shan’s mom’s new hat got blown away by the wind! 😂 The gusts were no joke. Later, when rain started, we hid inside Miniso, waiting it out while browsing.
We also dove into the 盲盒 (blind box) craze. If you’re in China, you can’t miss it — collectible figures that are random, fun, and addictive. This time we got:
🐻 Butterbear
🐷 Lulu the Pig
🧚 Pucky
We opened them right on Nanjing Road, making it a memorable highlight of the day.
Evening: Yu Garden (豫园) Snacks & Night Lights
By evening, we made our way to Yu Garden, another Shanghai must-visit. At Exit 6, the place was filled with local food stalls — the perfect spot to grab snacks while waiting for the lights to turn on.
When the night lights came on, Yu Garden transformed into a glowing, magical scene. The lanterns, traditional architecture, and buzzing crowd made it feel festive and warm, despite the cold weather.
Final Stop: The Bund at Night
We couldn’t resist going back to The Bund once more, this time to see the full skyline lit up. Even though we had been here earlier in the wind, the night lights across Huangpu River made the trip worth it.
Day 6 Wrap-Up
Day 6 was chaotic, cold, and windy — but it gave us some of the most funny and memorable moments of the trip. From postal museums and hat-chasing drama, to blind box shopping and Yu Garden night lights, and finally ending at The Bund, Shanghai gave us a day to remember.
