If you're arriving in Shanghai late at night, Linyin Art Hotel near Shanghai Pudong Airport is one hotel I can personally recommend.
We stayed here on our first trip to Shanghai after arriving around midnight — and it actually made a lot more sense than heading straight into the city.

Why We Stayed Near Pudong Airport
Our flight landed in Shanghai around midnight.
At that hour, taking a car all the way from Pudong Airport to central Shanghai would have been more expensive. We'd also be paying for a more expensive city hotel when all we really needed was somewhere comfortable to sleep.
So instead, we booked Linyin Art Hotel for our first night.
It was affordable, surprisingly beautiful for the price, and close to the airport.
But the best part was the airport transfer.
Free 24-Hour Pudong Airport Pickup
Linyin Art Hotel offers 24-hour airport pickup, which was incredibly convenient for our late arrival.
After landing, we arranged the pickup and their shuttle brought us from Pudong Airport directly to the hotel.
No need to figure out transportation into Shanghai at midnight.
If your flight arrives very late or leaves very early, this alone makes staying near the airport worth considering.

The Hotel Is Actually Really Pretty
For an affordable airport hotel, I wasn't expecting much.
But Linyin Art Hotel surprised us.
The property has a much nicer atmosphere than your typical basic airport hotel, so it didn't feel like we were sacrificing the experience just to save some money.
For us, it was a comfortable way to spend our first night before properly starting our Shanghai trip the next morning.
Good Option for Shanghai Disneyland Too
Linyin Art Hotel can also make sense if you're planning to visit Shanghai Disneyland.
The hotel is relatively close to Disneyland and offers transfers there as well.
So instead of immediately staying in central Shanghai, you could potentially structure your trip like this:
Pudong Airport → Linyin Art Hotel → Shanghai Disneyland → Central Shanghai
This is especially useful if Disneyland is one of the first things on your itinerary.
Would I Stay at Linyin Art Hotel Again?
Yes — particularly for a late-night arrival.
I probably wouldn't choose it as my main hotel if I planned to spend several days exploring The Bund and central Shanghai. For that, I'd rather stay somewhere directly connected to the Shanghai Metro.
But as an affordable hotel near Shanghai Pudong Airport, it worked perfectly for us.
If your flight arrives around midnight like ours did, staying near the airport for your first night could save you money and make your arrival much less tiring.
Best for: Late arrivals, early flights, budget travellers and Shanghai Disneyland visitors.
