If you're looking for what to eat in Beijing, one place I'd definitely recommend is Nanmen Shuanrou (南门涮肉). This is traditional Old Beijing copper-pot hotpot — 铜锅涮肉. Instead of the spicy, heavy broth you might associate with Sichuan hotpot, Beijing-style shuanrou uses a much lighter broth. You cook thin slices of lamb in the boiling pot and dip them into a rich sesame-based sauce. Simple, warm and really good. And surprisingly, it wasn't expensive either. What Is Nanmen Shuan
