Arriving in a new city past midnight always feels a little like stepping into a different world—and that’s exactly how our Shanghai adventure began.

Our flight, D7 330 via AirAsia X, landed at Pudong International Airport at 12:30AM after departing KL at 6:50PM. By that time, the city had already gone quiet, and if you’ve ever tried to move around Shanghai at this hour, you’d know your options are a bit limited.

Shanghai Midnight Arrivals: What You Can Do

If you’re arriving this late, here are your top two choices:

  1. Use Didi (China’s Uber)

    • It runs 24/7, but midnight fares tend to have a slight surcharge.

    • It’s the fastest way into the city, but it could cost RM80–RM150 depending on your destination.

  2. Stay Overnight Near the Airport

    • This is what we did—and honestly, we recommend it.

Where We Stayed: Linyin Art Hotel Shanghai

We found this hidden gem just minutes from Pudong Airport—Linyin Art Hotel. For just a little over RM230($50)/night, you get:

  • Beautiful, resort-style rooms

  • A full breakfast included

  • A peaceful night’s rest after a long flight

It honestly felt like a 5-star escape, and it made the perfect base before entering the busy city the next morning.

🧳 If you’re planning your own Shanghai journey, we definitely recommend staying in this hotel near the airport if you arrive Pudong Airport during midnight.
